Stand-down Thursday morning — trench spoil placement

Every crew stops at 7:00 for thirty minutes. Two near-misses in three weeks, both the same cause: spoil piled inside two feet of the lip on a five-foot open cut. Foremen have the one-page brief. If you are on a bore that morning, run it before you break ground, not after.

Clearspan renewed us for another twelve months

The Highlands and Gulf service areas both renew through next September, at the rates we filed in June rather than the ones they countered with. They named parse-to-invoice turnaround as the reason. That number is ours to keep: it is the work orders going out clean the same day they land.

Labor Day week — time must be in by Friday noon

Payroll processes a day early for the holiday. Anything not approved by Friday at noon rides to the following run. Foremen, please do not approve on your phone from the truck at 11:55 — that is how we get the corrections that take a week to unwind.

Delta Crew moves to the Westmark H2133 zone Monday

The Northgate build is buttoned up ahead of schedule, so Delta shifts to Westmark to take the aerial rebuild off Bravo's plate. Bravo stays on the Stonebridge conduit run. Same reporting, same rate book; only the job number changes.

Work orders in review are down to about one in six

When the parser is not sure about a field it now routes the order to a review queue with everything else already filled in, instead of failing it outright. What used to be somebody re-keying a whole PO is now confirming two fields. If you work that queue, flag anything that keeps coming back wrong — that is a parser fix, not a you problem.

    Open enrollment runs October 1–17

Rates are held flat on both medical plans. The dental carrier is changing, so if you are mid-treatment check the new network before you re-elect. Sessions in the yard at 6:30 and again at 4:00 on October 2 and October 9.

Sightline added us to their splice bid list

We have been doing their placement for two years and never got asked to quote splicing. That changed this week. First package is 1-24 and 25-96 count work across the Northwest East region — the same footprint our crews are already in.

    Pre-trip inspections are being spot-checked

Two trucks went out last month with the pre-trip logged and a tire that would not have passed. We are spot-checking at random. This is not about paperwork — it is about the fact that a signed form and an unlooked-at tire is worse than no form at all.

Units built against units billed now reconciles before close

The gap between what the field reported and what actually went on an invoice used to surface after the month closed, when nothing could be done. It now shows during the month, by job. Fourteen hundred projects went through the first pass; the recovered work paid for the quarter.

Heat protocol stays in effect through September

Water, shade and a ten-minute break every hour once the heat index passes 100. Two crews shifted to 5:30 starts on their own initiative last week — that is the right call, and you do not need to ask first. Tell dispatch so the customer is not calling an empty site at eight.

Permit watch is catching franchise renewals early

The county filings we now pull automatically gave us four weeks of lead time on two renewals this month. If you hear about a build before we do — from a customer, a competitor, a flagger — say so. Human tips still beat the system more often than it is comfortable to admit.

Referral bonus raised to $1,500 for splicers and bore operators

Paid half at ninety days and half at six months. Those two roles are what is holding back crew count going into the fall push. Anyone you would work beside, send them our way.
